Paxton10 VR Reader Overview

The Paxton10 VR reader (010-254) is Paxton’s vandal resistant reader for doors where it will get heavy use or could be damaged. It combines an IK10 impact rating and IP67 waterproofing with a rugged metal surround held by four security fixings, so it’s built for external use in all conditions. It only works on Paxton10 systems. For a tough reader on Net2 or Switch2, the Paxton Proximity Metal Reader (390-747) is the one to look at.

One Reader for Cards, Fobs and Smart Devices

This vandal proof reader reads all of those token types at the same time. If your staff already carry EM, MIFARE or HID Prox cards, the reader can accept them alongside new credentials. Paxton’s own datasheet rates its encrypted Paxton tokens higher for cloning resistance than the other formats, which makes Paxton10 key fobs the best choice for new users.

Built-in Bluetooth® also lets people use their smartphone through the Paxton app. For hands-free entry, the reader also works with the Paxton10 Bluetooth Handsfree Fob (010-690).

Installing the VR Reader

The colour-coded wires connect colour for colour to the controller. Because the cable exits from the centre of the back, drilling and mounting are accurate. Keep the reader off metal surfaces and away from other proximity readers so it keeps its full read range. Once it’s fitted, you can enrol tokens in seconds with the Paxton10 Desktop Reader (010-387).
