Paxton Net2 Pro Software Overview

Net2 Pro (930-010) is the paid upgrade to Paxton’s Net2 access control software. It includes everything in the free Net2 Lite and adds Paxton’s advanced features. Paxton’s Net2 Lite is an excellent choice for most sites. However, the Pro version adds time and attendance, fire alarm and multi-zone intruder alarm integration, lockdown and remote management directly into your system. It’s a one-off licence, installed on a Windows PC.

What Net2 Pro Adds

With Timesheet and Timeline, staff clock in and out on the same proximity readers that open the doors. The hours can then be exported to HR applications. Card designer prints user photos and company details straight onto access cards. If more than one business shares a building, landlord-tenant permissions restrict each operator to managing tokens within their own area.

Security lockdown secures the site in an emergency and lets chosen security staff move freely. Anti-passback stops someone passing their token back to a second person to get into the same area, such as a car park. Pro also adds fire alarm integration and multi-zone intruder alarm integration.

Remote Management with Net2Online and Paxton Connect

Remote site management needs Net2 Pro. Net2Online gives you a browser interface, so you can add users, open doors, run roll call reports and trigger lockdown from any device. The Paxton Connect app does the same from a smartphone or tablet. Net2Online needs Pro v6.01 or above, and Paxton Connect needs v6.00 or above. Neither one stores your data in the cloud, because both only relay information between the system and the device, so your data remains protected.

Check Your Controllers Before Moving to Net2 v7

Paxton released Net2 v7 in February 2026, and it brings new security features including multi-factor authentication. It won’t install on any system that still has a Net2 Classic door controller in its database, and those sites stay on v6.9. Classic controllers haven’t been sold in the UK since 2014. Replacing them with Net2 Plus controllers, such as the Paxton Net2 Plus 1 Door Controller (682-493), opens up v7. With Net2 Plus controllers in place, a Pro licence gives you access to every feature in the latest Net2 software.
