Paxton Net2 Plus 1 Door Controller (682-493)

The Paxton Net2 Plus 682-493 is the single-door Net2 controller supplied as a bare circuit board, with no housing or power supply. It’s the version installers choose when fitting a controller into an existing cabinet with its own DC supply, and when replacing an old Net2 Classic controller. That second job became more urgent in 2026, when Paxton released Net2 v7. A system with even one Net2 Classic in its database can’t upgrade beyond v6.9, which locks it out of v7 and the multi-factor authentication it adds to software login.

  • Part number: 682-493
  • Format: Net2 Plus PCB only, 126 x 116 x 25 mm
  • Doors: 1 per controller
  • Power: 12V to 24V DC (±20%), 200mA; power supply not included
  • Network: On-board TCP/IP (100Mbit/s, auto MDIX) and RS485
  • Reader ports: 2, taking up to 4 readers or keypads in total
  • Users: Up to 50,000 users and tokens
  • Warranty: 5 years

Each Net2 Plus controller makes its own access decisions. If the network or PC goes down, it keeps letting the right people through and stores the events, then reports them back to the software once communications return. It also holds its data for up to 30 days through a total power loss.

The on-board TCP/IP connects the controller straight to your LAN. The same controller can also act as the network interface for a wired RS485 daisy chain of other Net2 Plus controllers, so a run of doors needs fewer network points and no separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter.

The board has inputs for an exit button and a door contact, plus separate inputs to monitor your power supply and tamper switch. A volt-free relay rated at 4A, 24V DC drives the lock, and there’s an alarm/bell output and a dedicated intruder alarm input.

Both reader ports work with Paxton readers and keypads. Compatible third-party readers can connect over 26-bit or custom Wiegand.

During installation, give the controller a fixed IP address and configure it through the Net2 Configuration Utility. The board isn’t moisture resistant, so it needs to sit indoors or inside a weatherproof housing.

The controller runs on Paxton’s Net2 software, which manages sites of up to 1,000 doors and 50,000 users. Net2 Lite is free and suits most sites. Net2 Pro adds features including Net2Online, a browser-based interface for managing users, running lockdown and viewing reports from any device.
