STI Resettable Break Glass Unit: Overview When someone smashes the glass of a traditional break glass unit, it needs replacing before it works again. This emergency break glass unit uses a patented mechanism that doesn't need to be replaced; instead of glass, it's a rigid plastic element combined with an over-centre spring that gives the same real "give" and resistance as breaking glass, without any actual glass to shatter, clean up, or replace. Press it, and an activation indicator flag drops into view to confirm it's been triggered. Reset it with the supplied key, and it's ready to use again immediately, no waiting for a maintenance team to fit a new pane. This unit uses a double pole changeover switch, meaning it can control two separate circuits from a single press, releasing a door lock and triggering an alarm at the same time, for example, or operating two separate lock connections.
